Narrow Way Day 3

Day 3 -

Our day began at morning devo, where Luke Zangaro did the scripture reading. It was biscuits and gravy day for breakfast and then cabin cleanup. The deer cabin won cleanest cabin, which was the littlest girls! They were very proud and enjoyed going first in the lunch line.

For morning sports, we played Capture the Flag. During crafts, some Kids finished their pillows and others continued to work on building their boats. Cabin bible studies followed where we studied why the Christian life is worth it.

We talked about what the wide and narrow gate mean, who are in both of these places, what these gates look like in our lives and where these two paths lead. We learned that living the Christian life may not be easy, but is always worth it.

Today’s lunch was hot dogs, baked beans and tater tots followed by 30 minutes of mandatory rest in cabins. Then it was time for swimming in the nearby creek, which allowed us all a chance to cool off from the heat of the day.

Group bible studies went well as we were able to dig deeper and discuss the topics introduced in the morning session.

Then we had free time where the kids could fish, kayak, play 9 square or use the game room. Many chose to work on their team skits for skit night tomorrow night.

Dinner was an amazing Italian meal of salad, lasagna, squash and zucchini, and garlic bread.

We learned a few new songs during chapel and heard a lesson from Shane on the cost of discipleship. Currently the kids are enjoying a giant memory game and a cup stacking game, which is getting a little crazy!

The snack tonight is strawberry shortcake! If the kids go hungry it’s not for lack of food!

We are all having a great time! The kids seem to be bonding well and getting to know one another, and opening up. We are amazed to see how God uses this camp to work in these kids’ lives year after year. They always come back a little older, a little different, and it’s such a blessing for us to see them growing in their spiritual walks.

On a funny note, we have a camp mystery we are trying to solve. Someone is randomly locking doors, and we can’t figure out who it is. We have even offered a reward for information, ha! It is possible the doors are slipping and locking themselves, but we don’t really know. Dustin is staying busy unlocking lots of doors in the meantime!

That’s all for tonight. Please continue to pray for us all!

Narrow Way - Days 1 and 2

It's Hot, Hot, Hot!!

We have had an excellent start to camp this year. Everyone arrived and got settled in yesterday afternoon. We made cross necklace nametags and divided into four teams for sports and activities. For dinner last night, our cooks grilled hot dogs, brats and burgers, along with fresh fruit and chips!

We had opening singing, chapel and then ice breaker activities. Then, we headed to the campfire for SMORES! We had an evening devotional where John W. talked to us about the importance of our decisions. Then it was lights out on a great first day!

Day 2 - We woke up and gathered around the campfire once again at 7:45 for a morning scripture reading led by Levi Hall. Next was breakfast with pancakes, sausage and scrambled eggs, yum! KP duty and camp cleanup followed. Next was sports, where everyone headed up the BIG hill to play wiffle ball and frisbee golf. After, we all headed back to the A/C for crafts. Some chose to work on a pillow, and others made teams to build popsicle boats that will be raced on the last day.

We split into cabin groups for bible study where we began to look at how we are all worth it to God. We looked at the Israelites, and how God cared for them as they wandered through the desert. We also explored Matthew where it explains how God cares for the birds of the air and the lilies of the field, and we are "worth" even more to Him, so how much more will He care for us!

Lunch was kid-favorite chicken nuggets, green beans and mac n'cheese, followed by rest and getting ready for water sports. During free time, we had a good amount of kids fishing and using the paddle boat and kayaks. Some also used the indoor game room to play pool, air hockey, ping pong and shuffle board.

Then it was time to cool off a little with some water balloon relays, cup races and then a big free-for-all water balloon fight. Mid-afternoon we headed down to a creek less about a 1/2 mile from camp and witnessed Kelsi Cox being baptized. What an exciting time!

When we returned to camp, we settled into group discussions over the bible study we did this morning, and then got cleaned up for our evening meal, which was a NACHO bar. Right now, the kids are doing their evening activity, team relays.

Everyone seems to be having a great time. It has already been a long day, and it's not over yet. Camp days are very full and eventful. But it all is definitely #worthit.
